WELCOME TO SPALDING WATER POLO
Hertfordshire league winners
Hi all, in light of last nights announcement we will definitely be 'off' as of Thursday. As before we will rebate subs from November until we restart so please dont cancel standing orders if possible. We are in contact with the pool to check we can still swim this Tuesday. Numbers have been gradually rising with 12 last week in Seniors and 10 in juniors, so, if possible it would be great to have one last socially distanced session before lockdown.
We'll keep you updated once we have confirmation from the pool
SPALDING WATER POLO
Spalding Water Polo is a fun and competitive club team linked with Spalding Amateur Swimming Club, which was established in 1934.
There is a junior club affiliated to the group called 'South Holland Stingrays' (see separate page/link), while senior teams (over 16 years old for competitive league fixtures) play in several water polo leagues, as well as invitation tournaments. Anyone is welcome to have a try and join in (see separate page/link for club subs & rules) - the only requirement is that you need to be a competent swimmer. Although our league fixtures are currently just for men, we do occasionally have ladies joining us for mixed training sessions.
As well as enjoying our water polo, there is a strong social side within the group, with outings (including families) throughout the year and occasional fund-raising events for various causes. We always meet after training (and home matches) at our 'club pub', The Moorings (Commercial Road, Spalding PE11 2HD), where we enjoy some excellent beer and banter, as well as delicious food kindly provided by our hosts Steve & Jill. Their support is particularly appreciated for their legendary meals for both teams after a home fixture!
